The Venetian Macau.

The weather was quite dreary, but the good news is that the forecast for the next 6 days in Hong Kong is sunny and 70 degrees.

Even with the rain, there is plenty to keep us occupied. We may make it over to old Macau later today if the weather clears.

The hallway leading from the

Hotel’s Main Lobby to the Casino.

As usual the elevators to the rooms were on the other side of the Casino.

A bit of trivia, The Venetian Macau is the largest casino in the world with 550,000 square feet of casino space.  The casino has 3400 slot machines and 800 gaming tables (my guess is that 700 of those are baccarat tables)

As a point of reference the Venetian Las Vegas has 120,000 square feet.

Welcome to Las Vegas… wait a minute, there are a lot of Chinese people and literally hundreds of baccarat tables, therefore it must be Macau! We are staying at the Venetian which is a copy, of an imitation of Venice. Quite surreal.

I lost my obligatory HK$1000 yesterday, which is $129. And probably won’t repeat that today even though it is budgeted. Gambling is just not my thing. As usual Adam is playing Texas hold’em.

We embraced the Chinese culture including our USDA Prime steak dinner at Morton’s yesterday evening. OK, we plan on doing Chinese dinners in Hong Kong over next 6 days.

To the left is the view of the Great Hall which is the center of the Casino on the lower level and the Grand Canal Shops on the upper levels. This picture is taken from the Main level of the Grand Canal Shops.
